Domain Information Retrieval
This paper describes a retrieval agent system that provides access to information from multiple domains regardless of its heterogeneity or distribution.
Domain information retrieval. One approach used to addressing this problem is personalized information retrieval pir. Information retrieval ir techniques provide a possible solution for managing the ever growing volume and contexts of the knowledge embedded in these technical documents. Due to the costs involved in a domain engineering initiative it is important to be able to access all available domain information.
This paper introduces a domain specific knowledge discovery technique that is applicable for both information retrieval and text mining identifying word meanings characterized by domains. Pir systems collect a user s personal information from both implicit and explicit sources to build a user profile with the objective of giving retrieval results which better meet their individual user information needs than a standard information retrieval ir system. However applying a general purpose search engine to a domain specific technical document collection often produces unsatisfactory results.
