Powershell Join Domain Existing Computer Account
I want to be able to join the domain with the account already existing.
Powershell join domain existing computer account. I am fairly new at powershell and i m trying to create a simple script that will open a few. I ve been using add computer to join or rejoin the domain. The machine account must be added to the allowed list for password replication policy and the account password must be replicated to the read only domain controller prior to the join operation.

Join computer to domain and specify ou path with powershell when you join a computer to the domain it will by default go the computers folder. At first try to log in with administrator computer name administrator then unjoin domain to workgroup then reboot now your pc is in workgrup as local account. But wasn t sure if it was the correct way to go about rejoining the domain.
To do this just right click the powershell icon and select run as administrator. This is a simple little not super secure powershell script used to join computers to domains locally. Uses an existing machine account to join the computer to a read only domain controller.
If you use the rename computer cmdlet to rename the computer but do not restart the computer to make the change effective you can use this parameter to join the computer to a domain with its new name. The credentials to authenticate to the remote computer with a local account when the trust is broken. If this value is not specified the join is a computer to a workgroup.
The join process looks for a domain controller that already has a computer account for the computer that is currently being joined. You may need to run powershell as administrator to avoid access denied errors. If you still receive errors either the domain really does not exist or there is some network issue which is preventing the domain discovery.
